Corporate Social Responsibility

Swan Wealth Management

At Swan Wealth Management we are passionate about the way we run our business and aim to meet the highest standards of ethics and professionalism. Our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) refers to our commitment towards our clients, our people, the wider community and the environment. We always conduct business with integrity and respect human rights, actively promoting safety and fair dealing, diversity and inclusion as well as showing total respect and commitment towards our clients.

Our Values

Challenge ourselves, each other and our clients to be the best we can be;

Enjoy an inspiring, friendly and happy working life;

Do the right thing, personally and professionally, acting with the highest levels of integrity, in order to make the world better for ourselves, our clients and those we can help.

Our Clients

We are totally committed to supporting our clients, prioritising their needs and providing first class advice so that they have confidence to invest with us. We believe in building lifetime relationships with all our clients and are proud of our robust client servicing model.

We believe that investing appropriately has the potential to achieve attractive returns and make a positive impact for those we care about. We therefore actively encourage all clients to consider appropriate investment options.

The value of an investment with St. James's Place will be directly linked to the performance of the funds you select and the value can therefore go down as well as up.  You may get back less than you invested.

Our People

We offer our staff opportunities to grow and develop thereby enabling them to achieve their full potential. We offer study and examination support, as well as a comprehensive training package to meet their future needs. We have a formal structure to regularly review performance and development when all staff are encouraged to raise any issues that may be affecting their health or performance. Our staff’s mental health and wellbeing is very important to us, and we regularly hold company team building and social events. SJP also provide a professional support network through Mental Health First Aiders and all staff are actively encouraged to seek help if they are experiencing any problems.

Our Community

At Swan Wealth Management we believe that we all have a responsibility to support our community and so actively encourage our staff to volunteer and participate in fund raising activities. All staff are given time off when they can volunteer through programs internally or externally organised.

As a successful business we donate a material percentage of our revenue to the St. James's Place (SJP) Charitable Foundation and all staff make regular monthly donations. Three individuals at Swan Wealth Management are active members of the local SJP Charitable Foundation Board. The board are responsible for reviewing new grant applications and ensure that the distribution of these grants directly benefits projects in the local area.

Since its inception in 1992 the St. James's Place Charitable Foundation has aimed to make a positive and lasting change to the lives of children and young people. Supporting young children is still their largest focus, although today their work stretches across four main themes: supporting children and young people, supporting people with cancer, supporting Hospices and Mental Health.

Swan Wealth Management are very proud to sponsor Street Child; a charity who work with local organisations across the globe to ensure that every child has access to an education. We make a donation every time someone new becomes a client and also make an annual donation to the charity instead of sending physical Christmas cards to our clients.

In 2018 Matthew successfully completed the Marathon Des Sables; raising funds for Street Child and the SJP Foundation. Richard too has been involved in several charitable initiatives, most recently taking part in a community support project in The Gambia.

In March 2022 the whole Swan Wealth Management team were privileged to take part in a 2 day SJP team volunteering event. The organised event helped transform the Learning Partnership West (LPW) Teyfant Road outdoor space into a safe, supportive, and positive play environment for children and young people. The aim for this space is to encourage children to engage, access specialist support, learn new skills and build positive social networks.

Our Environment

At SWM we recognise the need to protect the natural environment and strive to be a responsible and sustainable business. We are currently managing our environmental impact where possible.

What are we doing?

  • We’re holding virtual client meetings whenever we can.
  • We’re keeping printing to a minimum.
  • We aim to minimise our waste and encourage colleagues to recycle as much as possible.
  • We encourage our clients to go paperless.
  • We aim to conserve energy where possible.
  • We use environmentally friendly technology ie electric and hybrid vehicles.

The Good Business Charter (GBC)

At Swan Wealth Management we are very proud to have achieved the ‘Good Business Charter’ accreditation in recognition for the way we prioritise and care for our staff, the environment, our clients and suppliers. The ‘GBC’ accreditation recognises businesses for their ethical and professional behaviours.

The ‘GBC’ is recognised by the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) and Trade Union Congress (TUC). As a business, we have committed to the following ten components which make up the GBC…

Real Living Wage - The GBC requires all employers to pay directly employed staff and regularly contracted staff the real living wage as set out by the Living Wage Foundation and for those with over 50 employees, commit to becoming an accredited Living Wage Employer within a mutually agreed time frame.

Fairer Hours & Contracts - The GBC requires a fair approach to zero hours contracts, including fair shift scheduling and cancellation policy, and proper consideration given to contracts with guaranteed hours.

Employee well-being - The GBC requires clear, fair and transparent policies that support and encourage employee well-being and ban unreasonable penalties for legitimate sickness.

Employee representation - The GBC requires all employers to engage with worker representatives and to ensure there is a voice that represents employees around the boardroom table.

Diversity and inclusion - The GBC requires businesses to evidence how they monitor the diversity of their workforce and their commitment to close the gender, disability and ethnicity pay gaps.

Environmental responsibility - The GBC requires businesses to commit to an environmental policy to demonstrate they are committed to reducing their environmental impact and continually improving their environmental performance.

Pay fair tax - The GBC requires businesses to commit to paying their taxes, not engage in tax avoidance and commit to be transparent in their relationship with HMRC.

Commitment to customers - The GBC requires businesses to publish their commitment to their customers on their website. Businesses will be expected to gather and monitor customer feedback and report the results to their board.

Ethical sourcing - The GBC requires businesses to commit to the standards set out in the Ethical Trading Initiative Base Code for sourcing through a process of continuous due diligence.

Prompt payment to suppliers - The GBC requires businesses to sign the government’s Prompt Payment Code.
